General Manager of Quality Assurance


REPORTS TO:
Plant Manager

DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the General Manager of Quality Assurance is responsible for developing and
maintaining a quality system which assures that all products manufactured by the organization meet strict customer specifications and achieves superior quality and reliability levels.

Responsibilities:
Develops and implements a quality production program which insures conformity of final products to strict quality standards.
Support advanced product quality planning (APQP) process to ensure compliance to quality systems and successful integration of new products into operations.
Lead initiatives to address negative customer issues/or feedback trends. Utilize corrective action request (CAR) to incorporate corrective and preventive action at customers and suppliers.
Develops and maintains a supplier quality index program using statistical controls to assure that only high quality vendors are retained.
Must have the ability to positively influence and challenge Customer decisions around resolution of quality issues, definition of part/material specifications.
Coordinates and works closely with Product Engineering department in support of current and new product development.
Works closely with manufacturing department personnel in support of operations.
Responsible for inspection and testing of materials and products for uniformity of color, surface defects and dimensional accuracy.
Supervises and directs the work of Quality Assurance staff members, conducts and reviews job performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions, if needed.
Interact with external customers and internal customers.
Verify accuracy of all documentation.
Monitor and enforce TS16949 /ISO 14001 policies and procedures.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Preferred)

Experience:
Eight years' experience in Automotive Quality Assurance.
Five years or more of management experience over a large Quality Engineering group.
Multiple OEM experience
Continuous improvement processes - i.e. Six Sigma, Kaizen Lean etc.

SKILLS:
Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
Good organizational skills.
Computer literate
Capable of overall professionalism in a business environment

TRAINING SPECIFIC to POSITION:
Computer literate.
Capable of overall professionalism in a business environment.

OTHER:
Ability to travel for extended periods of time with limited prior notice.
Must be able to work any assigned shift.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
